De plus, le dialogue th\u00e9\u00e2tral est sp\u00e9cifique : il veut faire oublier qu&rsquo;il a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9crit avant d&rsquo;\u00eatre jou\u00e9 et donner une impression de spontan\u00e9it\u00e9. Or, c&rsquo;est un <b>dialogue fabriqu\u00e9<\/b>, qui recourt \u00e0 des proc\u00e9d\u00e9s qui ne font pas partie de la vie courante : la tirade, le monologue, l&rsquo;apart\u00e9&#8230; Mais \u00e0 travers ce dialogue fabriqu\u00e9, le th\u00e9\u00e2tre pr\u00e9sente ainsi une image plus \u00e9mouvante, plus dr\u00f4le, plus inattendue de la vie r\u00e9elle.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\">&nbsp; Les personnages et les situations \u00e9voluent rapidement \u00e0 travers cette parole. En effet <b>au th\u00e9\u00e2tre, la parole est action<\/b> : dans le temps r\u00e9duit de la repr\u00e9sentation se d\u00e9roule une histoire fictive (la fable) qui peut avoir l&rsquo;intensit\u00e9 d&rsquo;une crise pour toucher davantage le spectateur. Les \u00e9v\u00e9nements se constituent en actes, en sc\u00e8nes et en tableaux.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\">&nbsp; Le th\u00e9\u00e2tre ne peut pas \u00eatre r\u00e9duit \u00e0 un texte. Celui-ci est transmis et interpr\u00e9t\u00e9 par des acteurs, orient\u00e9 par un metteur en sc\u00e8ne, enrichi par une sc\u00e9nographie, des \u00e9clairages, des costumes qui viennent lui donner vie de mani\u00e8re \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re. C&rsquo;est un art total, qui envoie simultan\u00e9ment au spectateur une multitude de messages, auditifs, visuels, verbaux et non verbaux : Barthes parle d&rsquo;une \u00ab\u00a0polyphonie informationnelle\u00a0\u00bb (<i>Essais critiques<\/i>, 1964) qui tient le spectateur en constante activit\u00e9.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\">L&rsquo;illusion th\u00e9\u00e2trale<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\">\u00ab\u00a0On sait bien que les com\u00e9dies [=les pi\u00e8ces de th\u00e9\u00e2tre] ne sont faites que pour \u00eatre jou\u00e9es; et je ne conseille de lire celles-ci qu&rsquo;aux personnes qui ont des yeux pour d\u00e9couvrir dans la lecture tout le jeu du th\u00e9\u00e2tre\u00a0\u00bb Moli\u00e8re, L&rsquo;Amour m\u00e9decin, \u00ab\u00a0Au lecteur\u00a0\u00bb, 1666<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\">&nbsp;&nbsp; La repr\u00e9sentation th\u00e9\u00e2trale donne vie au texte en pr\u00e9sentant au public des personnages incarn\u00e9s, qui \u00e9voluent dans un d\u00e9cor plus ou moins r\u00e9aliste pour donner au spectateur l&rsquo;illusion de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9. De son c\u00f4t\u00e9, comme l&rsquo;a analys\u00e9 Diderot dans son <i>Paradoxe sur le com\u00e9dien<\/i> (1778), l&rsquo;acteur est lui aussi double :<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\">\u00ab\u00a0Ce tremblement de la voix, ces mots suspendus, ces sons \u00e9touff\u00e9s ou tra\u00een\u00e9s, ce fr\u00e9missement des membres, ce vacillement des genoux, ces \u00e9vanouissements, ces fureurs, pure imitation, le\u00e7on record\u00e9e1 d&rsquo;avance, grimace path\u00e9tique, singerie sublime dont l&rsquo;acteur garde le souvenir longtemps apr\u00e8s l&rsquo;avoir \u00e9tudi\u00e9e, dont il avait la conscience pr\u00e9sente au moment o\u00f9 il l&rsquo;ex\u00e9cutait, qui lui laisse, heureusement pour le po\u00e8te, pour le spectateur et pour lui, toute la libert\u00e9 de son esprit, et qui ne lui \u00f4te, ainsi que les autres exercices, que la force du corps. Le socque2 ou le cothurne3 d\u00e9pos\u00e9, sa voix est \u00e9teinte, il \u00e9prouve une extr\u00eame fatigue, il va changer de linge ou se coucher ; mais il ne lui reste ni trouble, ni douleur, ni m\u00e9lancolie, ni affaissement d&rsquo;\u00e2me. C&rsquo;est vous qui remportez toutes ces impressions. L&rsquo;acteur est las et vous tristes c&rsquo;est qu&rsquo;il s&rsquo;est d\u00e9men\u00e9 sans rien sentir, et que vous avez senti sans vous d\u00e9mener. S&rsquo;il en \u00e9tait autrement, la condition du com\u00e9dien serait la plus malheureuse des conditions; mais il n&rsquo;est pas le personnage, il le joue, et le joue si bien que vous le prenez pour tel : l&rsquo;illusion n&rsquo;est que pour vous ; il sait bien, lui, qu&rsquo;il ne l&rsquo;est pas.<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\">Des sensibilit\u00e9s diverses qui se concertent entre elles pour obtenir le plus grand effet possible, qui se diapasonnent4, qui s&rsquo;affaiblissent, qui se fortifient, qui se nuancent pour former un tout qui soit un, cela me fait rire. Elle n&rsquo;est pas une copie mais une construction, une composition qui oblige \u00e0 distinguer le <i>r\u00e9el<\/i> du <i>vrai<\/i>. \u00ab\u00a0Le th\u00e9\u00e2tre n&rsquo;est pas le pays du r\u00e9el : il y a des arbres en carton, des parlais de toile, un ciel de haillons, des diamants de verre, de l&rsquo;or de clinquant, du fard sur la p\u00eache, du rouge sur la joue, un soleil qui sort de dessous terre. C&rsquo;est le pays du vrai : il y a des c\u0153urs humains sur la sc\u00e8ne, des c\u0153urs humains dans la coulisse, des c\u0153urs humains dans la salle\u00a0\u00bb (Victor Hugo, \u00ab\u00a0Post-Scriptum de ma vie\u00a0\u00bb, <i>Le Tas de pierres<\/i>, recueil posthume de 1942)<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\">&nbsp;&nbsp; La trag\u00e9die pr\u00e9sente des h\u00e9ros pris dans un conflit sans issue heureuse, un dilemme. La position du spectateur lui permet de se lib\u00e9rer des \u00e9motions douloureuses comme la terreur et la piti\u00e9 en les \u00e9prouvant sans \u00eatre vraiment affect\u00e9 : c&rsquo;est la catharsis. Pour le th\u00e9\u00e2tre classique, cette lib\u00e9ration a \u00e9t\u00e9 comprise comme une \u00ab\u00a0purgation\u00a0\u00bb de toutes les passions et servait de justification au th\u00e9\u00e2tre \u00e0 une \u00e9poque o\u00f9 l\u2019\u00c9glise lui \u00e9tait hostile. Pour les philosophes des Lumi\u00e8res, le th\u00e9\u00e2tre \u00e9tait une \u00e9cole de vertu. En revanche, le dramaturge allemand Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956) a rejet\u00e9 le th\u00e9\u00e2tre \u00ab\u00a0dramatique\u00a0\u00bb qui suppose la participation \u00e9motionnelle du spectateur. Il a th\u00e9oris\u00e9 un th\u00e9\u00e2tre \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9pique\u00a0\u00bb : didactique, il interdit au spectateur de s&rsquo;identifier aux com\u00e9diens et aux personnages, \u00e9veille son esprit critique.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;\">L&rsquo;adaptation du th\u00e9\u00e2tre au public<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;&nbsp; <span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\">Faisant l&rsquo;objet d&rsquo;une r\u00e9ception collective, le th\u00e9\u00e2tre a d\u00fb composer avec les conventions et les lois de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\">&nbsp;&nbsp; <b>La vraisemblance<\/b> : \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque classique, l&rsquo;histoire devait coincider avec un moment de crise, ne devait pas \u00eatre trop charg\u00e9e et pouvoir se d\u00e9rouler en vingt-quatre heures et para\u00eetre naturelle au spectateur.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\">&nbsp;&nbsp; <b>Les biens\u00e9ances<\/b> imposaient le respect de certaine conventions morales : on ne mangeait pas, ne tuait pas sur sc\u00e8ne (mais Racine fait mourir Atalide dans <i>Bajazet<\/i> et Ph\u00e8dre sur le th\u00e9\u00e2tre). Le comportement et le langage des personnages devaient \u00eatre conformes \u00e0 des types conventionnels. Le non-respect de ces codes a suscit\u00e9 des d\u00e9bats retentissants : la querelle du <i>Cid<\/i> (1637) et plus tard la bataille d&rsquo;<i>Hernani<\/i> (1830).<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A cela s&rsquo;ajoutait <b>la censure morale et politique<\/b>, dont Zola demandait l&rsquo;abolition en 1885 : son roman <i>Germinal <\/i>avait paru librement mais son adaptation au th\u00e9\u00e2tre avait \u00e9t\u00e9 interdite.
