\nSAVOIR COMPTER LES SYLLABES DANS UN VERS<\/b><\/h2>\n

\nI – COMMENT PROC\u00c9DER ?<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\nUn vers comporte un certain nombre de syllabes. la syllabe est un groupe form\u00e9 de consonnes et de voyelles qui se prononcent d’une seule \u00e9mission de voix :<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\n\u00ab\u00a0Paris\u00a0\u00bb a deux syllabes : \u00ab\u00a0Pa\u00a0\u00bb + \u00ab\u00a0ris\u00a0\u00bb.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\nPour rep\u00e9rer et comptabiliser les syllabes, on les s\u00e9pare graphiquement \u00e0 l’aide d’une barre verticale; cette op\u00e9ration se nomme \u00ab\u00a0scander un vers\u00a0\u00bb :<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nPour scander un vers, il faut tenir compte des liaisons. La consonne finale d’un mot qui sert de liaison avec le mot suivant fait partie de la syllabe du mot suivant :<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nN.B. \u00e9, \u00e8, \u00ea ne constituent pas des \u00ab\u00a0e\u00a0\u00bb caducs et comptent donc comme une syllabe. Notre probl\u00e8me est de savoir s’il faut articuler une syllabe contenant un \u00ab\u00a0e\u00a0\u00bb caduc.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nOn appelle \u00ab\u00a0diphtongue\u00a0\u00bb la succession de deux voyelles. Ces deux voyelles peuvent \u00eatre prononc\u00e9es :<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\n           – d’une seule \u00e9mission de voix et constituer ainsi une seule syllabe : \u00ab\u00a0pied\u00a0\u00bb.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\n           – d’une double \u00e9mission de voix et constituer ainsi deux syllabes : \u00ab\u00a0li \/ on\u00a0\u00bb.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\nOn nomme \u00ab\u00a0syn\u00e9r\u00e8se\u00a0\u00bb la prononciation de ces deux voyelles en une seule syllabe.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\nLa prononciation de ces deux voyelles en deux syllabes se nomme \u00ab\u00a0di\u00e9r\u00e8se\u00a0\u00bb.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\u00c9tant donn\u00e9 d’une part la difficult\u00e9 des r\u00e8gles du d\u00e9compte des syllabes concernant la di\u00e9r\u00e8se et la syn\u00e9r\u00e8se, et d’autre part les exceptions multiples quant \u00e0 l’application de ces r\u00e8gles; le moyen qui appara\u00eet comme \u00e9tant le plus simple pour \u00e9tablir le d\u00e9compte syllabique d’un vers comportant une diphtongue, est de proc\u00e9der par comparaison en se r\u00e9f\u00e9rant au d\u00e9compte syllabique des vers voisins. Soient les vers suivants :<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\n\u00ab\u00a0La fillette aux violettes<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\n    \u00c9quivoque \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153il cern\u00e9,<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nLes vers 1 et 4 comportent chacun une diphtongue et font donc difficult\u00e9. Faut-il prononcer \u00ab\u00a0vio \/ lettes\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0vi \/ o \/ lettes\u00a0\u00bb ? Faut-il prononcer \u00ab\u00a0vieux\u00a0\u00bb ou \u00ab\u00a0vi \/ eux\u00a0\u00bb ?<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\nPour r\u00e9soudre ces probl\u00e8mes, scandons d’abord les vers 2 et 3 qui ne pr\u00e9sentent pas de difficult\u00e9 :<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nvers 1 : si nous comptons la diphtongue \u00ab\u00a0vio\u00a0\u00bb en syn\u00e9r\u00e8se, nous arrivons \u00e0 6 syllabes, il nous manque donc une syllabe et nous savons ainsi que la diphtongue \u00ab\u00a0vio\u00a0\u00bb doit se prononcer en di\u00e9r\u00e8se :<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nAlors que la po\u00e9sie m\u00e9di\u00e9vale \u00e9tait tol\u00e9rante, Malherbe et le classicisme proscrivent absolument l’hiatus, ne l’acceptant qu’\u00e0 l’int\u00e9rieur d’un mot lorsqu’il est comme estomp\u00e9 par un \u00ab\u00a0e\u00a0\u00bb muet intervocalique :<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nBriser le tabou de l’hiatus fut une des grandes audaces de la po\u00e9sie romantique. La po\u00e9sie moderne a peu \u00e0 peu recouvr\u00e9 le droit \u00e0 l’hiatus :<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
